A Wave against Dowry, hit the roads of Bangalore City..

On Saturday evening, the 5th of February, 2011, the roads of bangalore witnessed an unusual event. Guess what..it was an event against dowry. The event STOP DOWRY, was witnessed by thousands of people, wherein people took oath in public to shun dowry in all forms. The event organized by DIET, under the UMMEED PROGRAM, was organized in Association with ISGC; and promoted by KMMT, JADS, IIC, CIS, HOPE and ISC. People from various religious backgrounds addressed the issue in single unison to condemn the act of taking dowry from the bride's parents.

The increasing rate of oppression against women is quite alarming and devastating. Hence the initiative taken to provide awareness against the evil practice, guide the needy towards counsellings and legal actions.

Shaykh Abdur Raheem Faizi, Mr. Muktar Ahmed (KMMT), Arshad Saheb (JADS), Mr. Dominic, Janab Phool Nazeer, Abdul Wahid Saheb (ISC), Shaykh Abdul Qadeer Umari, Mr. Umar Shariff, Janab Khaja Ameenuddeen, Shaykh Javeed Umari and Mr. B.M. Venkatramu (Women Welfare Service) took part in the event.

The masses were warned of stern action by the UMMEED team, if found guilty of demanding dowry. The wave has hit now the city; and will soon uproot all evils inshaallaah.
